Thinking Circus

What exactly characterizes circus art, what significance does it have and what could even be an attempt to define circus? In the documentary „Thinking Circus“, various European circus artists give their answers to these questions. Not only do different approaches to this art form become clear, but above all there are also shared basic ideas about the circus. Solidarity, sharing and passing on knowledge and the value of community in the circus are experiencing a new appreciation.

Was genau zeichnet Zirkuskunst aus, welche Bedeutung kommt ihr zu und wie könnte gar der Versuch einer Definition von Zirkus lauten? Im Dokumentarfilm „Thinking Circus“ kommen verschiedene europäische Zirkuskünstler*innen mit ihren Antworten auf diese Fragen zu Wort. Dabei werden nicht nur unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen an diese Kunstform deutlich, sondern es zeigen sich vor allem auch geteilte Grundideen zum Zirkus. Solidarität, das Teilen und Weitergeben von Wissen und der Wert der Gemeinschaft im Zirkus erfahren eine neue Wertschätzung.
